En Ciudad de México, como en toda gran metrópoli, la indiferencia y la exclusión dictan el destino de muchos.

Un grupo de individuos de muy diversas procedencias haya refugio en un espacio tan improbable como sus propios destinos. Un techo que los abriga y da cobijo, pero más importante que eso, un entorno afectivo que brinda todo el amor y la solidaridad allí donde el núcleo familiar de cada uno de ellos falló.

Marcados por el rechazo, el oprobio y el abuso; cada uno de ellos suma a sus padecimientos circunstancias muy distintas.

Joy (un chico trans de 18 años) fue expulsado violentamente de su hogar y sufre la incomprensión de la mayoría de su entorno y de la sociedad.

Elliot (el primo contemporáneo de Joy) experimenta una situación semejante debido a que el padre lo asume gay por su sensibilidad artística.

Eleonora (la madre de Elliot) víctima de la violencia de su marido: un hombre machista y alcohólico que encarna lo peor de una sociedad decadente en la que los derechos de la mujer siguen siendo ignorados y atropellados.

Teresa (la abuela “adoptiva” de Elliot) quien, a sus casi 80 años, vive recluida en un asilo al que sus hijas la han confinado para despojarla de los bienes que acumuló durante su época de esplendor como estrella cinematográfica.

Adrienne (la clásica nómada digital estadounidense) que a sus 30 años busca experiencias, independencia y libertad. Desea tener un hijo, pero no un novio o un marido y se siente ahora más extranjera de lo que podía imaginar, además de no siempre tan bienvenida.

Ulises (un venezolano que se enamora perdidamente de Adrienne) perteneciente a la diáspora migratoria de su país, que llega a la ciudad en búsqueda de libertad y posibilidades de crecimiento y realización artística.

Caleb (un veinteañero colombiano pansexual) lleno de sueños y aspiraciones, con un corazón enorme y un profundo sentido de solidaridad, que opta por el trabajo sexual para alcanzar sus ambiciones de riqueza.

Aarón (un post adolescente argentino) cuya fe religiosa sobrevive a las más duras pruebas que le impone un entorno cada vez menos espiritual.

La Veneree (el administrador de un cabaret) en el que es además la principal figura travesti, mientras se identifica asexual.

Y así, un número de otros personajes que componen este relato coral lleno de anhelos, urgencias, derrotas y victorias que reflejan las vivencias de millones de personas en todo el mundo, pertenecientes a alguna de las tantas minorías y comunidades que intentan sobrevivir al caos materialista que parece dictar el orden del día, mientras los derechos humanos, conquistados en las últimas décadas, están en peligro inminente de ser ignorados y pisoteados.

Liminal es pues un himno de esperanza y libertad.

In Mexico City, as in every major metropolis, indifference and exclusion dictate the fate of many.

Marked by rejection, oppression, and abuse, each of them carries unique struggles:

Joy (an 18-year-old trans boy) was violently expelled from his home, facing misunderstanding from both his social circle and society.

Elliot (Joy’s contemporary cousin) experiences a similar situation, as his father assumes he is gay due to his artistic sensitivity.

Eleonora (Elliot’s mother), a victim of domestic violence, suffers under a machista and alcoholic husband, who embodies the worst aspects of a decaying society where women’s rights continue to be ignored and trampled upon.

Teresa (Elliot’s “adoptive” grandmother), now nearly 80 years old, is confined to a nursing home, abandoned by her daughters who seek to strip her of the wealth she amassed during her golden years as a film star.

Adrienne (a classic American digital nomad), at 30 years old, seeks experiences, independence, and freedom. She wants a child but not a husband or partner, and now feels more foreign than she ever imagined, often unwelcome.

Ulises (a Venezuelan who falls madly in love with Adrienne), part of his country’s migrant diaspora, arrives in the city searching for freedom, opportunities for growth, and artistic fulfillment.

Caleb (a pansexual Colombian in his twenties), driven by dreams and ambition, has a huge heart and a deep sense of solidarity. He turns to sex work as a means to achieve financial success.

Aarón (a young Argentine navigating post-adolescence) clings to his religious faith, despite the increasingly secular world challenging his beliefs.

La Veneree (the cabaret administrator and its leading drag figure), who identifies as asexual.

Alongside them, many other characters complete this choral narrative, filled with longings, struggles, defeats, and victories that mirror the lives of millions worldwide—individuals belonging to various marginalized communities, striving to survive the materialistic chaos that dictates daily life while hard-won human rights remain at risk of being ignored and trampled upon.

Liminal is, therefore, an anthem of hope and freedom.

Rodolfo Graziano Cirillo, o Rodolfo Graziano, de origen ítalo-venezolano, es un autor y escritor; productor y director de cine, teatro y televisión; artista multimedia y experto en medios, publicidad y marketing. Su formación académica abarca estudios de grado, especialización y postgrado en periodismo, fotografía, escritura creativa, producción y dirección de radio, cine, teatro, televisión y multimedia; publicidad y mercadeo, y también políticas culturales, artes plásticas, experiencias inmersivas y transmedia.

El libro de entrevistas AMOS DE LA NOCHE fue publicado por Editorial Planeta, en 1994, y recientemente fue reeditado por Delivery Boy Media Content. En 2023 publicó su primera novela MI VIDA EN 30 NOMBRES.

En 2012 recibió el Lifetime Achievement Prize otorgado por el Festival FESTIDVQ por su trayectoria como realizador cinematográfico. En 1992 recibió el Premio Nacional de Dramaturgia Aquiles Nazoa, Venezuela, por su pieza teatral ALGO OCURRIÓ CAMINO A IMPARARE.

ANALEMA, su primer largometraje, ha sido distinguido durante 2023, con la Selección oficial de los Festivales New York Independent Cinema Awards, San Diego Independent Cinema Awards, Venice International Independent Film Festival, London Director Awards, Tokyo International Cinema Awards, y ha ganado las siguientes distinciones: Best Feature Film y Best Screenplay Feature en el Berlin Indie Film Festival, Gold Award Narrative Feature Drama en el Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival, Best Director (Rodolfo Graziano) en el San Diego Independent Cinema Awards, Best Actor (Armando Andrade), Best Cinematography (Jerónimo Goded) y Best Narrative Feature (Rodolfo Graziano) en el Art Film Spirit Awards. En las artes escénicas, Rodolfo Graziano ha sido director artístico y creador de instalaciones multimedia (video design) para espectáculos de danza contemporánea y ópera. Igualmente ha producido y dirigido piezas teatrales propias, empleando siempre dispositivos audiovisuales en los que el videoarte juega un papel importante. Como artista multimedia ha expuesto su obra (instalaciones multimedia, videoarte, fotografía e instalaciones sonoras) tanto individualmente como en colaboración con otros artistas en importantes galerías y museos en Venezuela, Estados Unidos, Colombia, Inglaterra y España.

Su carrera como productor y director de televisión, a nivel internacional, incluye diversos programas de entretenimiento realizados para canales en América Latina y los Estados Unidos. Actualmente dirige, en la Ciudad de México, la empresa productora DELIVERY BOY MEDIA CONTENT con la que adelanta proyectos de Cine, Televisión, Teatro, Experiencias Inmersivas y Arte Multimedia.

Rodolfo Graziano Cirillo, or Rodolfo Graziano, of Italo-Venezuelan origin, is an author and writer; a producer and director of film, theater, and television; a multimedia artist; and an expert in media, advertising, and marketing. His academic background includes undergraduate, specialization, and postgraduate studies in journalism, photography, creative writing, production and direction for radio, film, theater, television, and multimedia; advertising and marketing, as well as cultural policies, visual arts, immersive experiences, and transmedia.

The interview book AMOS DE LA NOCHE was published by Editorial Planeta in 1994 and was recently reissued by Delivery Boy Media Content. In 2023, he published his first novel, MI VIDA EN 30 NOMBRES. He has also regularly contributed film criticism articles to various newspapers and specialized magazines, including EL NACIONAL, EL UNIVERSAL, EL DIARIO DE CARACAS, and REVISTA ENCUADRE, among the most prominent.

His audiovisual productions—including short films, video art, and medium-length films—have received OFFICIAL SELECTION honors at festivals such as the Hamburg International Film Festival (2010), Strasbourg International Film Festival (2008), Bogotá Film Festival (2008), and Zinebi 49 International Film Festival (Bilbao, 2007). The film also won several awards, including Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay Feature at the Berlin Indie Film Festival, Gold Award Narrative Feature Drama at the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival, Best Director (Rodolfo Graziano) at the San Diego Independent Cinema Awards, Best Actor (Armando Andrade), Best Cinematography (Jerónimo Goded), and Best Narrative Feature (Rodolfo Graziano) at the Art Film Spirit Awards. In 2024, Analema was also selected for the Madrid International Film Festival. In the performing arts, Rodolfo Graziano has served as an artistic director and multimedia installation designer (video design) for contemporary dance and opera productions. He has also produced and directed his own theatrical works consistently integrating audiovisual elements where video art plays a significant role. As a multimedia artist, he has exhibited his work—including multimedia installations, video art, photography, and sound installations—both individually and in collaboration with other artists in renowned galleries and museums in Venezuela, the United States, Colombia, England, and Spain.

His career as an international television producer and director includes various entertainment programs created for networks across Latin America and the United States. Currently, he directs DELIVERY BOY MEDIA CONTENT in Mexico City, where he develops projects in Film, Television, Theater, Immersive Experiences, and Multimedia Art.

ALBERTO SALGADO (LA VENEREE)

Bailarín, coreógrafo y docente, inició en el Ballet Folclórico de México.

Fundador de “México de Colores”, primera compañía de danza Drag inspirada en el folklore mexicano, ha trabajado con artistas como Yuri y Gloria Trevi.

“Liminal” marca su debut en cine, integrando sus múltiples habilidades artísticas.
